Stage I – Computer-Based Test (CBT) + Initial Document Verification
Section II (50 ques, 50 marks, 30 min—for GD only): Maths (25), Physics (25).
Two sections:
Section I (60 ques, 60 marks, 45 min): Maths (20), Science (10), English (15), Reasoning (10), GK (5).
Passing criteria: UR/OBC/EWS – 30 (Sec I) & 20 (Sec II); SC/ST – 27 & 17.
No negative marking
Biometric and documents (ID, education, category, domicile certificates) are verified early on.
Stage II – Adaptability Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Initial Medical Adaptability Test: A quick OMR-based psychological screening PFT requirements: 1.6 km run in ≤ 7 min 20 squat-ups (Uthak Baithak) 10 push-ups Initial Medical Exam: Conducted by military doctors. Appeals allowed (within 21–42 days).
Stage III – Provisional Merit List, Final Medical, and Document Verification Candidates listed per all-India merit. Final medical and thorough document check—including police verification and cross-checking certificates
Stage IV – Final Enrollment & Training Final enrollment at INS Chilka, followed by initial training. Final verification with issuing authorities (boards, universities, state bodies)
- Educational Qualification:
- Navik GD: 10+2 pass with Maths and Physics from a recognized board.
- Age Limit: 18 to 22 years (born between 01 Sep 2003 and 31 Aug 2007).
- Relaxation: SC/ST +5 years, OBC +3 years.
- Physical Standards:
- Height: ≥157 cm (relaxation for tribes/hilly regions)
- Chest: 5 cm expansion
- Weight: Proportionate (±10 %)
- Vision: 6/6 (better eye), 6/9 (worse eye) [no glasses]
- No tattoos (exceptions apply for tribal tattoos in specific areas)
- Normal hearing
- Medical: All standards per ICG norms. Examples of disqualifiers: flat foot, hernia, color blindness, etc. Note: flat foot policy may apply; full medical includes BP, blood, X‑ray, vision.
